Tulsi Lemonade: A Refreshing Summer Sip from the Garden

Tulsi Lemonade: A Refreshing Summer Sip from the Garden

There are a handful of recipes I find myself coming back to every summer, and tulsi lemonade is one of them. Tulsi, also called holy basil, grows wild and abundant in my garden this time of year. Its flavor is a little peppery, a little floral, and so refreshing. Paired with honey and fresh lemons, it makes the perfect drink to enjoy on a hot evening when we’re winding down from the day.

Recipe Card

Ingredients (makes 4 glasses):

1 cup fresh tulsi (holy basil) leaves (or 2 Tbsp dried)

4 cups water

¼ cup raw honey (or to taste)

Juice of 3–4 lemons

Ice, for serving

Instructions:

1. In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a simmer.

2. Add tulsi leaves and steep for 10–15 minutes.

3. Strain into a pitcher, stir in honey while warm, and let cool.

4. Add lemon juice.

5. Serve over ice with extra tulsi sprigs or lemon slices.

Tips & Notes

You can double the recipe to keep a pitcher in the fridge for easy sipping.

Swap honey for maple syrup if you prefer a vegan option.
